A walk in the Lake District

We had a walk in the Lake District today, climbing up Helm Crag onto Gibson Knott, over Pike of Carrs and back to Grasmere via Far Easedale Gill. The views were great and the colours wonderful, mainly the browns of dead bracken and the greens of bryophytes. The weather turned a bit nasty near Pike of Carrs, with strong winds and hail, but when we dropped into the valley things calmed down significantly.

Probably Andreaea rupestris, black rock-moss.
