Water Rail 1 in ditch in SW corner
Kingfisher 1
...but not much else. Long-tailed Duck on Prescot Reservoirs, strong westerly winds with blustery showers, there must be something on the mere surely? Nope, 2 Tufted Ducks and about 5 Great Crested Grebes the paltry total. I can almost see more birds by looking out of my window.

Hi Colin, unrelated to this post but do you have any idea where Lord Derby's land in Rainford might be?I met a gramekeeper from there at Billinge hill last week and he told me i was welcome to go down any time to take photographs. He mentioned Windle island and the bottle and glass pub. I found the pub but have no idea where the grounds are!Cheers!
Hi Andrew, I'm not exactly sure, but there is land immediately behind the Bottle and Glass which is keepered, and is pretty good for wildlife. There are also lots of private keep out signs about! It could be anywhere though, I thought that Lord Derby owned most of the land around Rainford and west, and I think that there are different gamekeepers for different bits.
Thanks Colin!I suppose im best going on a fine day and parking up near the pub then walking.I did see a few private signs!
